A fun quiz in teams

Come along for a fun evening and test your general knowledge. You can come on your own or as a team of up to four people.

In aid of the World Methodist Council's 'Achieving the Vision' fund. At Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, Epworth on Friday April 25th 2014 starting at 7pm.

Admission is £5 per person which includes a light supper.

Special church service

A service to celebrate John and Charles Wesley on this anniversary  of John Wesley's conversion.

At Wesley Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday May 24th starting aty 7.45pm.

At 'a quarter before nine' (the time when John Wesley recorded his heart being strangely warmed) we will be joining in with the global singing of one of Charles Wesley's most well-known hymns.

Refreshments and entertainment in the garden

Come and enjoy the garden in all its spring glory on the bank holiday, Monday 26th May 2014 from 11am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be a range of entertainment provided by young people.

A Summer concert of varied music

A local group of performers will be giving a concert of very varied music to suit all tastes on Saturday 7th June 2014 starting at 7.30pm, at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, Epworth.

Strawberries and traditional cool drinks will be available in the interval.

Tickets cost £6, accompanied children under 12 are free. Donations are encouraged for the refreshments. Tickets are available in advance from the Epworth Old Rectory shop. This is in aid of the Wesley Church organ fund and the Epworth Old Rectory development project.

Summer Craft Fair

Entertainment, a wide range of stalls and games out on the croft

Come and enjoy local talent on Saturday 19th July 2014 from 10am to 4pm. A range of stalls will be selling mainly handmade products, alongside live entertainment and children's games, as well as the opportunity to meet some of the Rectory's animals.

Refreshments will be on sale through the day.

Admission adults £1, accompanied children under 12, free.

Anyone interested in booking a stall is advised to book early. The booking form for this fair and the Christmas fair on 6th December 2014 can be downloaded here.

Heritage Open Day

Epworth Old Rectory will open specially for timed free tours as part of the national Heritage Open Days

Sunday September 14th from 2pm to 4.30pm, come and have a 'taster tour' of Epworth Old Rectory.

Free tours take place every half hour, at 2pm, 2.30pm. 3pm, 3.30pm and 4pm. Maximum is 15 people per tour. No booking necessary but if the previous tour is full, you may be asked to wait for the next one. You are welcome to visit the gardens, shop and second-hand book stall while you wait.

Christmas Craft Fair

Lovely handmade gifts for sale in the Rectory which will be decorated for Christmas.

The Christmas Craft fair takes place on Saturday December 6th from 10am to 3pm.This is part of the preparation for Christmas events in Epworth that weekend.

Admission is £1 per adult, children under 12 are free. Seasonal music and refreshments will be available. A great way of finding a very special Christmas gift in a very special atmosphere.

Any craft stall holder is advised to book early. The booking form can be downloaded here.

350 years of influence

Samuel Wesley would have been 350 in December 2012. We celebrated this with a lecture, exhibition and special united service at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, Epworth.

Christmas Craft Fair

A wide range of quality hand-made crafts in the beautiful setting of the Old Rectory decorated for Christmas. Seasonal music, stalls and refreshments created a lovely atmosphere and visitors enjoyed their day.

Dramatic Tours by Candlelight

Oct 2012 to Sat Oct 27 2012

Two days in October saw the presentation of special dramatic tours. Visitors were guided around the house in candlelight by 'Hetty Wesley' and the maid 'Abigail', encountering various members of the Wesley household in different parts of the house. Visitors spoke positively of the experience and enjoyed being drawn into the stories of the house. The whole presentation was made by volunteer actors in period costume.

Heritage Open Day

Free tours led by costumed guides ran all afternoon. We welcomed over 50 visitors who enjoyed discovering the stories of the Wesleys and then enjoyed tea and home-made scones in the refectory afterwards. We will participate again in Heritage Open Days 2013. Watch this space.

Summer craft fair

Jul 2012

A sunny day made the Summer Craft Fair a real success. Locally hand-made crafts were on sale - including honey, soap, silk, chocolate, preserves, paper goods, textiles, wooden goods and much more. Adults and children enjoyed 'splatting the rat' and 'hooking the duck'. The tombola and cake stall had sold out by lunchtime! The catering team worked very hard providing lunches, teas and refreshments all day. Everyone enjoyed the swing band music from 'Room 21 Big Band' and the skills of the young dancers from Epworth Performing Arts Academy. Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who worked hard to make it happen. THe next craft fair is the Christmas one on 8th December 2012.

Annual Friends event

May 2012

In 2012 this was held on May 26th to connect with Wesley Day two days earlier. An afternoon was packed with activities – a garden tour, a tour of Wesley’s villages and a special dramatized tour of the Old Rectory. This event is for the Friends of the Rectory and those who are interested in finding out more.

Museums at Night

May 2012

Museums at Night. This is a national event every May and Epworth Old Rectory has participated since 2010. In 2012 there were late tours by candlelit by guides in costume.

Family Fun and Sports Day

Apr 2012

The Family Fun and Sports Day was held in April 2012 as a celebration of the Olympics. We dodged the rain showers to run many races and side-shows with refreshments, stalls and a bouncy castle to add to the fun.

Christmas crafts

The Christmas Craft fair in December 2011 brought together all sorts of seasonal gifts hand-made by local people. The 1st Belton Girl Guides sang carols and visitors enjoyed many stalls and seasonal refreshments.

Lydian Choir

The Lydian Choir gave a concert in September 2011 at Wesley Church in aid of Epworth Old Rectory.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg hunt was held in the school Easter holidays 2011 and many children enjoyed hunting for eggs around the garden and brought their decorated eggs for the competition. Here is one of the winning entries.
