Dramatic Tours by Candlelight
Oct 2012 to Sat Oct 27 2012
Two days in October saw the presentation of special dramatic tours. Visitors were guided around the house in candlelight by 'Hetty Wesley' and the maid 'Abigail', encountering various members of the Wesley household in different parts of the house. Visitors spoke positively of the experience and enjoyed being drawn into the stories of the house. The whole presentation was made by volunteer actors in period costume.
Heritage Open Day
Free tours led by costumed guides ran all afternoon. We welcomed over 50 visitors who enjoyed discovering the stories of the Wesleys and then enjoyed tea and home-made scones in the refectory afterwards. We will participate again in Heritage Open Days 2013. Watch this space.
Summer craft fair
A sunny day made the Summer Craft Fair a real success. Locally hand-made crafts were on sale - including honey, soap, silk, chocolate, preserves, paper goods, textiles, wooden goods and much more. Adults and children enjoyed 'splatting the rat' and 'hooking the duck'. The tombola and cake stall had sold out by lunchtime! The catering team worked very hard providing lunches, teas and refreshments all day. Everyone enjoyed the swing band music from 'Room 21 Big Band' and the skills of the young dancers from Epworth Performing Arts Academy. Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who worked hard to make it happen. THe next craft fair is the Christmas one on 8th December 2012.
